Daryn Colledge entered his first NFL training camp with as much pressure as any rookie could have.

He's was penciled into the starting lineup at left guard, but after a rough preseason opener was bumped down to the second team and is trying to work his way back into the starting lineup.

Colledge, one of the Packers' second-round draft picks, grew up in North Pole, Alaska, a town of less than 2,000 people located 14 miles southeast of Fairbanks. He went on to a decorated college football career at Boise State, where he set school records for games played and started with 52.

In April, he became the highest-ever NFL draft choice from the state of Alaska - and the eighth overall - when he was picked 47th overall by the Packers.

Colledge has been working extremely hard to make the impact that's expected of him in 2006, and he's keeping Packers fans updated in this Training Camp Diary.

In this fifth installment, he looks back on his second NFL game against Atlanta, taking on the left tackle position in practice, and preparing for Monday's game at Cincinnati.

Daryn Colledge: Last week I had a good game. I actually played a really good game, did a lot of good things out there. It was a definite improvement over last week.

I just played at full speed. I had a lot of fun, I enjoyed getting out there. I just tried to run around and make plays and get back to playing football, and that's what I felt I did.

My offensive line coaches both said I did a real good job and they're excited to see I was improving and that I'm getting better and better each week.

It's a lot of fun playing left tackle again, like I did in college. I enjoy getting out there and playing it, and it's a chance for me to expand my versatility and learn more about this offense and help this team in every way I can. It gives me the opportunity to be a swing guy at both the guard and tackle positions.

It's a little more work because I have to know both roles and know both jobs, and it's different competition between the two guys I face each time. But it's a lot of fun to get out there and do something different every day.

I have no aspirations on which one is the right position for me yet. I'm just trying to be one of the best five offensive linemen and get myself a spot with the starters.

This past week I've just been paying attention, knowing the defense we're facing and backing these guys up. I'm trying to give our defense a good look out there. Right now I'm working Cincinnati's offense for our defense, and if I can help those guys get a better look, that's better for me. But I have to be ready to go in there because you never know what's going to happen every snap.

This coming week, playing two games in five days I think will be a challenge. It's something you're not used to, something totally different. The 1's are going to see a lot of reps against Cincinnati, and we're only going to see a little bit, and the 2's are going to get a lot of reps against Tennessee, so we should be all right.
