While families across the nation gathered together to give thanks and enjoy a traditional meal, the Lambeau Field Atrium Thursday served as a site for a similar gathering as Green Bay Christian Outreach hosted an ecumenical Thanksgiving meal.

It was the fourth year the Atrium hosted the gathering, an effort put on by six area churches to serve families and individuals in a situation of need.

"Today is simply about giving thanks," said Deacon Mike Schmidt of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, a coordinator for Christian Outreach. "The people here today have an opportunity to spend some time with each other and enjoy a good meal. We're thankful for all the volunteers that worked on this day and made it a special time for these folks who are unable to do this themselves."

Approximately 800 individuals enjoyed a meal at the Atrium and another 400 meals were prepared and brought to people who could not make it to the event.

The meals were prepared on site by Christian Outreach volunteers with the help of Levy Restaurants and their main kitchen facilities at Lambeau Field.

Packers President/COO John Jones welcomed everyone to the Atrium for the meal and members of the Freedom High School band department provided entertainment during the day.
