TV Ad For Curly's Pub Airing Soon
by Mike Spofford, Packers.com posted 02/20/2007
Curly's Pub came to life a little earlier than usual on Monday morning.
Beginning at 6 a.m., a production crew began setting up their equipment in the popular Lambeau Field Atrium restaurant to begin an all-day shoot of a 30-second television commercial for Curly's, scheduled to hit the local airwaves in early March.
The production work included shots in the pub, dining room and Game Zone, all designed around a simple theme.
"We're kind of melding football and Curly's together," said Bill Luebker, art director for The Karma Group, Inc., a local advertising agency working in conjunction with Made Ya Look to produce the spot.
In giving a rundown of the ad, Luebker described that it will start by showing a group of people enjoying themselves in the bar, and then cut to a similarly angled shot of Packers players sitting on the bench during a game.
Then a waitress will bring a platter of food to a dining table, and as it's about to be handed to the customer, the ad will cut to action footage of Brett Favre handing a ball off to Ahman Green.
Finally, before a voice-over describing Curly's and inviting people to visit the restaurant, the ad will show a young football fan throwing a pass in the Game Zone, with a cut to Favre throwing a pass of his own.
The commercial will also include custom music in the background provided by the NFL, which also supplied the game footage to the crew.
All the footage will be edited into a "rough draft" of the commercial later this week. That will be reviewed next week by the organization, and after final tweaking it will be on local television stations beginning the first week of March.
At this time, the spot is scheduled to air locally on WFRV CBS 5 and ESPN during NCAA basketball coverage, WLUK Fox 11 during American Idol, and WBAY TV 2 during Dancing With The Stars.
"It's about people coming to Curly's and enjoying themselves and having a good time," Luebker said. "It's playing up that connection of Curly's to the Packers, and ultimately to the fans. Everything is intertwined.
"That's the uniqueness of this restaurant. All the other restaurants around here don't have that connection that Curly's has, to the team, to the history. That's what we build on." |
