Former Green Bay Packers linebacker Bill Forester passed away Friday morning in Dallas at the age of 74.

Forester played his entire 11-year career (1953-63) for the Packers after being drafted in the third round (31st overall) out of Southern Methodist University in 1953. A defensive tackle at SMU, Forester became a starter in the Green Bay linebacking corps that also included Ray Nitschke and Dan Currie during Head Coach Vince Lombardi's first two championship seasons, 1961 and 1962.

In 138 career games, Forester had 21 interceptions and three fumble recoveries. He recorded a single-season high of four interceptions three times, in 1955, 1956 and 1957. Forester also averaged 13.9 yards on 17 kickoff returns in his career and recorded a safety in 1959.

A burial service will be held Monday morning in Dallas, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Dallas (1707 San Jacinto Street, Dallas, TX, 75201).

Arrangements are being handled by Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas (phone: 214/363-5401).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church Youth Ministry or to Marketplace Ministries (12900 Preston Road, Suite 1215, Dallas, TX, 75230).
