More Than 1,500 Turn Out For Training Camp For Seniors

More than 1,500 participants turned out on Nov. 13 for Training Camp for Seniors, an event put on by the Green Bay Packers and Secure Horizons by UnitedHealthcare.
The free, inaugural event was designed to provide seniors with health checks and activities, as well as educational materials on Medicare. Participants were welcomed by Bart and Cherry Starr, who discussed ways for seniors to lead a healthy lifestyle and to stay informed about Medicare and other health insurance options.
"We formed a partnership with Secure Horizons with the intent to provide both a fun and educational day for seniors," said David Westphal, corporate sales account executive for the Packers. "We believe the seniors had a great day, and we'll be looking into continuing the event in the future."
Training camp attendees were able to stop at several health-related stations for flu shots, fitness demonstrations, and checks for blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels. Bellin Health, the official healthcare partner for the Packers, participated in many of these stations.
Informational booths on chiropractic care, healthy cooking, and Medicare plans also were well-attended, as were interactive stations that featured tour information, the Nintendo Wii video game, a bingo area, and inflatable games to test football skills. |
