- A four-year letterwinner, he started all 52 games of his collegiate career, tying him for the second-longest streak in NCAA history
- Experienced an unprecedented level of sustained success at Central Michigan, helping the team to three straight Motor City Bowls, marking the first time in program history the Chippewas participated in three consecutive postseason games
- An All-Mid-American Conference first-team selection and co-captain in 2008, he was the only CMU lineman to start every game at the same position, opening all 13 at left tackle

- Earned four letters in track and field as an accomplished discus thrower, winning the state championship in the event in 2004
- Participated in Central Michigan’s Red Cross Food Drive while in college, a charitable event that featured representatives from each of the Chippewas’ interscholastic sports
- Held a job as a clerk and stockperson at Walgreens for three years during high school
