 |
- A shifty, cat-quick back who served as the perfect complement to Ahman Green's power running style in his first season as a Packer
- Has good vision and good running instincts to go with noticeably quick feet that make him difficult to tackle in the open field
- Runs extremely hard anytime his hands are on the ball, either out of the backfield or on kickoff returns
- Possesses a one-cut-and-go mentality that as expected became a good fit in the Packers' zone-blocking scheme
- Improved considerably in pass protection as the 2006 season progressed, giving him opportunities to be a more regular contributor in the offense
- Averaged a productive 4.6 yards per carry in 91 rushes as a Packer, gaining 421 yards and scoring two touchdowns, both in the same game
- Can make defenders miss with quick jukes and ability to change direction in a hurry
- Became the team's leading kickoff returner in 2006 and contributed on special teams as a cover guy as well
- Previously was viewed as a quality No. 2 RB with the ability to start in a pinch and keep the offense from experiencing a major dropoff
- Acquired by the Packers in a trade with the Texans for running back Samkon Gado on Sept. 13, 2006
- Was originally a third-round draft pick (73rd overall) by the Texans after his junior year at Oklahoma State
- Played in 13 games with one start as a rookie, rushing for 184 yards and two TDs
- A versatile athlete, was drafted in the 14th round of the 1998 Major League Baseball amateur draft by the Colorado Rockies and spent four years in their minor league system, ultimately entering college late
- Acquired in Week 2 from the Texans for Gado, played in 14 overall games, one with Houston and 13 with Green Bay
- Made two starts, both with Green Bay, and was inactive twice with a lower-back injury
- In 219 Packers offensive snaps, averaged 4.6 yards on 91 carries (421 yards), with two TDs
- Also caught 16 passes for 112 yards (7.0 avg.) after joining Packers, and led the team with 31 kickoff returns for 670 yards (21.6 avg.)
- A pure one-cut back, can get upfield with exceptional vision and contribute on special teams, where he registered eight tackles
- With Houston, in the opener vs. Philadelphia (Sept. 10), rushed five times for 13 yards and caught one pass for 6 yards
- In his debut with Green Bay, vs. New Orleans (Sept. 17), had one kickoff return for a game-long 28 yards
- At Detroit (Sept. 24), led the club with three special teams tackles, one that dropped KR Eddie Drummond at the 16-yard line to start the second half; also saw his first carries in a Green Bay uniform
- At Philadelphia (Oct. 2), got his first Packers start with Green (hamstring) inactive and posted game highs in rushing and receptions; carried 26 times for 99 yards and caught six passes for 19 yards
- Started for Green again the following week, vs. St. Louis (Oct. 8)
- In 31-14 win vs. Arizona, had his first career 100-yard game, rushing for 101 yards on 11 attempts; went off left tackle for a game-long, 36-yard run on a second-quarter touchdown march
- Coupled with Green's 106 yards that day, became part of the first Green Bay tandem since the "Snow Bowl," Dec. 1, 1985, vs. Tampa Bay, to top 100 yards in one game
- Suffered a lower-back injury in the Cardinals contest and missed the next two games, at Buffalo (Nov. 5) and at Minnesota (Nov. 12)
- Returned vs. New England (Nov. 19), functioning as the team's primary kickoff returner, with limited time at running back
- Had a career-long 29-yard reception, at Seattle (Nov. 27), and his 35-yard kickoff return marked the team's longest on the year
- Against the New York Jets (Dec. 3), had 135 all-purpose yards; converted a third-and-1 on a third-quarter field goal drive
- In 30-19 triumph at San Francisco (Dec. 10), carried seven times for 69 yards (9.9 avg.), including a career-long 39-yard run in the fourth quarter that converted a third-and-1 and burned valuable time off the clock; also had four kickoff returns for 90 yards
