Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy announced Monday that secondary – safeties coach Darren Perry will pursue other opportunities.
"I want to thank Darren and his wife Errika for their dedication to the Packers over the last nine years," McCarthy added. "We wish Darren and his family all the best moving forward."
Perry coached the safeties for Green Bay since joining the team in 2009. He has coached defensive backs in the NFL for the past 16 years and has tutored a Pro Bowl player in seven of the last 14 seasons. Over his nine seasons with the Packers, a safety finished the season ranked in the top-two on the team in interceptions six times. In 2016, Perry coached Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who made his first career Pro Bowl after tying for No. 5 in the NFL and No. 1 among safeties with five interceptions. Clinton-Dix led the team with a career-high 117 tackles (97 solo) in 2015. Perry helped tutor Morgan Burnett, who was the only Packer to surpass 100 tackles each season from 2011-14 and ranks No. 3 among Green Bay safeties (since 1982) with 7.5 career sacks.
