The Green Bay Packers have claimed K Gabe Brkic (BUR-kitch) off of waivers from the Minnesota Vikings and released K Dominik Eberle. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Tuesday.

Brkic (6-3, 201) was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings in May as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Oklahoma University. He played in 38 games over four seasons (2018-21) for the Sooners, connecting on 57 of 69 field-goal attempts (82.6 pct.) with a long of 56 yards. Brkic also made 159 of 160 extra points (99.4 pct.) in his career. In 2021, he was one of three Lou Groza Award finalists, a second-team All-Big 12 selection by the league's coaches and The Associated Press, a second-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and a two-time Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week (Sept. 6 and Oct. 11). In his final year, he also made five kicks of 50-plus yards (on seven attempts), tied for the most in the nation.
