GREEN BAY - Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy has been pleased with what he's seen thus far from the three quarterbacks vying for the backup job to Aaron Rodgers.

With two preseason games remaining, the Packers are excited to see more from a group that's completed 42-of-75 passes for 635 yards, five touchdowns and an interception (100.69 passer rating) in preseason victories over Tennessee and Pittsburgh.

With it uncertain how much Aaron Rodgers will play in the final two games, the Packers should get extended looks at both incumbent No. 2 Brett Hundley and second-year quarterback DeShone Kizer against Oakland and Kansas City.

"They're both making progress," said McCarthy during his Tuesday morning news conference. "I'm really pleased with the step that Brett's made since last year and it's very apparent in just his whole operation and production of the offense. DeShone comes from a whole different perspective as far as his starting point and he continues to get better. Very pleased with the progress of both of those quarterbacks."

Behind Hundley and Kizer, undrafted rookie Tim Boyle also has flashed in the preseason in completing 11-of-22 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns (105.7 passer rating).

The Packers will travel for their first road preseason game this week when they play the Raiders at the Oakland Coliseum on Friday. McCarthy said the team already is making preparations on how to handle the field, which features the baseball diamond the A's play on.

Over the next two weeks, McCarthy and General Manager Brian Gutekunst will prepare for the mandatory cut down from 90 players to the 53-man roster.

"We're obviously talking pretty regularly throughout, but we try to let the process take place," Gutekunst said. "Obviously, the fourth preseason game means a lot to us as far as competition and what guys do in that game. But, yeah, I think as guys get closer to Kansas City, those conversations will pick up and start to get dialed in."
