Two public premieres of the Green Bay Packers' 2002-2003 highlights film, "Momentum," will be presented next week, it was announced Friday.
The first will be held at the Brown County Central Library auditorium in Green Bay (519 Pine Street) on Tuesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. (The Packer Hall of Fame, the customary site of the Green Bay premiere, is temporarily closed during the process of the move into its permanent home in Lambeau Field Atrium).
Darren Sharper, the Packers' Pro Bowl safety, will be present to discuss the team's outlook for the 2003-04 season, his own prospective contributions to the cause and answer fans' questions.
The second premiere will be held at Recreation Lanes in Iron Mountain, Mich., Thursday, May 29 at 7 p.m. Defensive end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, who equaled a club record by emerging as the Packers' sack leader last season for the second year in a row, will be on hand to preview the upcoming season, field questions and sign autographs.
One of the season highlights featured in the film is Sharper's own historic, 89-yard scoring return of an interception against the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 3 - the fifth-longest interception return in the team's 83-year NFL annals.
Others include quarterback Brett Favre's 85-yard, touchdown hookup with wide receiver Donald Driver at Chicago Oct. 7 - he Packers' longest play from scrimmage of the season - and Gbaja-Biamila's electrifying, 72-yard scoring runback of an interception in the same contest against the Monsters of the Midway.
In addition, the film features dramatic, voice-over descriptions of key plays by Wayne Larrivee, the play-by-play "voice" of the Packer Radio Network - descriptions originally delivered along the network during the season.
Produced, written and edited by Margaret Rufing of NFL Films, in conjunction with the Packers' public relations department, the film is narrated by Rob Webb, a new voice of NFL Films.
It will be available in VHS format for non-commercial group showings (church, fraternal and civic groups, etc.) through the Packers in early June. Please send requests to: Highlights Film, P.O. Box 10628, Green Bay, Wis.
