The Green Bay Packers have signed K Ramiz Ahmed (ruh-MEEZ ah-med) and released K Gabe Brkic (BUR-kitch). General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Sunday.
Ahmed (5-11, 193), a first-year player out of the University of Nevada, originally signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2020 but was released during training camp. He played for the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL in 2022, connecting on 14 of 22 field goals (63.6 pct.) with a long of 61 yards. Ahmed attended UNLV and Arizona State, where he did not play football, before walking on at Nevada. As a two-year letterwinner for the Wolf Pack, he connected on 15 of 20 field goals (75.0 pct) and 40 of 44 extra points (90.9 pct.) while also registering 28 touchbacks. Ahmed will wear No. 45 for the Packers.
