The Green Bay Packers signed LB Nate Orchard to the practice squad and released RB Kerrith Whyte from the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Thursday.
Orchard, a 6-3, 250-pound, sixth-year player out of the University of Utah, was originally selected by the Cleveland Browns in the second round (No. 51 overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. After three seasons in Cleveland (2015-17), he spent time with the Buffalo Bills (2018), Kansas City Chiefs (2018), Seattle Seahawks (2019), Miami Dolphins (2019), the Washington Football Team (2019-20), Houston Texans (2020), Tennessee Titans (2020-21) and Minnesota Vikings (2021). Overall, Orchard has appeared in 46 games with 13 starts, recording 85 tackles (51 solo), six sacks, 11 tackles for a loss, 16 QB hits, an interception, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He will wear No. 43 for the Packers.
