The Green Bay Packers will welcome 50 NFL FLAG football teams to Green Bay this weekend for the area's first-ever NFL FLAG Regional Tournament, and members of the public are invited to join the fun at Titletown Friday evening, June 24, for a kickoff event.
The event will begin with a performance from the Green Bay Preble drum line playing on the main stage on the Titletown Plaza, adjacent to Ridge Road at 4:55. At 5 p.m., Packers alumnus James Jones will take the stage to welcome the crowd, take pictures with the players and help introduce each team.
Throughout the evening, the FLAG teams and their families, as well as all Titletown visitors, are welcome to enjoy a performance by Art Hop Collective and local DJs, a special virtual reality tent and 360 photo booth, face painting, and a variety of food trucks. The event will continue with a skills challenge on the football field, featuring competitors from the FLAG teams, between 6:15 and 8:30 p.m. The night will wrap up with a fireworks display from the Lambeau Field rooftop at 9:15 p.m.
Teams from Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin are all participating in the tournament and more than 3,000 people including players, coaches and family members are expected to take part in the weekend's festivities.
The tournament itself will take place Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. on the same fields the Packers practice on, with ample bleacher seating for spectators to cheer on the teams at the Don Hutson Center and Ray Nitschke Field. Some age groups will participate in mostly round robin play, but some teams will transition to single elimination bracket play in the afternoon.
Tournament division winners will receive an entry into the 2023 NFL FLAG Championships at the Pro Bowl, along with a $5,500 donation toward each team's travel. Teams participating include NFL FLAG teams in divisions 8u, 8u Rec, 10u, 10u Girls, 10u Rec, 12u, 12u Girls, 12u Rec, 14u, 14u Girls and 17u Girls.
