Wisconsin's best 8-man teams to compete in QB Challenge

Two squads from northeast and northwest portions of state very familiar with one another

GREEN BAY – The state's top two 8-man football teams will bring their skill players to Lambeau Field for the QB Challenge at halftime of the Packers-Lions game on Sunday.

N.E.W. Lutheran, located in Green Bay, and Prairie Farm, in the northwest portion of the state, know one another very well. They have met in the 8-Player Jamboree Championship each of the last three years.

N.E.W. Lutheran won the matchup in 2013 and Prairie Farm got revenge in 2014. This year, both teams were the champions of their respective conferences, with Prairie Farm ranked No. 1 and N.E.W. Lutheran No. 2 in the state coaches' poll for eight-man football.

In the championship game on Oct. 31, Prairie Farm trailed at halftime, 22-14, before scoring 32 unanswered points in the second half for a 46-22 triumph.

Both teams will bring a trio of seniors to Lambeau Field for the halftime competition.

N.E.W. Lutheran will feature QB Gabe Lloyd along with receivers James Lana and Tanner Natzke. Prairie Farm will have QB Quinn Larson and receivers Mike Slagel and Kenny Quarders.
