Biography

  • Joined the Packers on Jan. 24, 2018. 
  • Has two years of experience in the NFL as a head coach (Cleveland, 2014-15) and seven years as a defensive coordinator (N.Y. Jets, 2009-12; Buffalo, 2013; Green Bay, 2018-19).
  • In 2019, guided a defense that ranked No. 9 in points allowed (19.6 ppg), the first time Green Bay had finished in the top 10 in the NFL in the category since 2010. It marked the Packers' biggest one-year improvement in scoring defense (5.4-point decrease from 2018) since 1996.
  • In his first season as Cleveland's head coach in 2014, led the Browns to their most victories since 2007 as they led the league in opponent passer rating (74.1) and ranked No. 2 in interceptions (21).
  • As a defensive coordinator with the Jets and Bills, helped his units finish in the top 10 in the league in total yards allowed and passing yards allowed in all five seasons.
  • During his four seasons with the Jets (2009-12), helped the defense rank No. 1 in the NFL over that span in opponent passer rating (71.0), opponent completion percentage (52.6) and passing yards allowed (186.3 ypg). Guided the defense to a No. 1 ranking in the NFL in 2009 with a franchise-record average of 14.8 points allowed per game.
  • Prior to joining the Jets, spent seven seasons (2002-08) with the Baltimore Ravens, serving as the outside linebackers coach for the final four seasons as the defense ranked No. 2 in total yards allowed in 2008, No. 6 in 2007, No. 1 in 2006 and No. 5 in 2005. 
  • Began his coaching career as an assistant for his father, Mike Sr., at Central Bucks West High School (Doylestown, Pa.). Later served as head coach at William Tennent High School (Warminster, Pa.) from 1995-96 and North Penn High School (Lansdale, Pa.) from 1997-2001.
