After five years in the NFL as a defensive back, Brandian Ross enters his fourth season as a college scout for the Packers, his second covering the Southwest region. He previously covered the Midlands region for two seasons after being officially named to the position on May 25, 2018. Ross spent the 2017 season as a scouting intern with Green Bay and was elevated to scouting assistant in January 2018 before being promoted to his current position.
Ross (first name pronounced Brandon) originally signed with Green Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2011 and spent time on the Packers' practice squad during the 2011-12 seasons. He appeared in 43 games with 24 starts in 2012-14 as a safety with the Oakland Raiders. Ross would also have stints with the Miami Dolphins (2014) and San Diego Chargers (2015), playing in one game at each stop.
Ross accumulated 183 tackles (119 solo), 14 passes defensed, two sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles during his career. The best season of his career came in 2013 in Oakland, where he played in all 16 games with 13 starts for the Raiders. He racked up a career-high 101 tackles (59 solo), good for No. 4 on the team, six passes defensed, two sacks and a forced fumble. His two sacks tied him with S Charles Woodson for the second most among Raiders defensive backs in 2013.
Collegiately, Ross played in 45 games with 33 starts in four seasons at Youngstown State. He notched 233 tackles (135 solo), seven INTs and two forced fumbles for the Penguins. Ross was a second-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection as a senior in 2010, leading the team with three interceptions. He paced Youngstown State with 98 tackles (49 solo) as a sophomore in 2008, tallying 4½ tackles for a loss, three passes defensed and an INT.
Ross was born in Richmond, Va. He is married with three children, Brandian Jr., 9, Kaiden, 8, and Bailey, 5. Ross and his family reside in Charlotte, N.C.
