Two newcomers are first-year players, other six spent 2013 on Packers practice squad

The Green Bay Packers have signed T Aaron Adams, CB Antonio Dennard, C Garth Gerhart, WR Alex Gillett, RB Orwin Smith, LB Chase Thomas, G Andrew Tiller and T Jeremy Vujnovich. The transactions were announced Tuesday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Thomas, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound first-year player out of Stanford, was on the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad for the final 14 games of the 2013 season. He entered the league as a non-drafted free agent with New Orleans in April 2013 and spent time with both the Saints and Oakland Raiders during the 2013 preseason.

Vujnovich (VIEW-nuh-vitch), a 6-foot-5, 300-pound first-year player out of Louisiana College, participated in Green Bay’s rookie orientation camp on a tryout basis in May 2013. He twice earned first-team All-American Southwest Conference honors (2011-12).

The other six players finished the 2013 season on the Packers’ practice squad.
