Registration deadline for Tundra Tales reading program approaching

Posted Jan 4, 2018

Online registration available this year; deadline Friday, Jan. 12

The registration deadline is approaching for the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame’s eighth annual “Tundra Tales” at-home reading program. The deadline to register students in grades 4K through 8 is Friday, Jan. 12. The program will run from Jan. 22 through March 25, 2018.

The “Tundra Tales” program aims to develop lifelong reading habits by encouraging children to read at home. Students in 4K through fifth grade must read or be read to for 60 minutes every week, outside of school, for eight weeks (a total of 480 minutes). Students in sixth through eighth grades must read 90 minutes a week (a total of 720 minutes). An extra week to achieve the total goal has been included to accommodate school schedules and spring breaks.

This year, the program is implementing weekly incentives to help keep readers motivated. A Packers bookmark series has been created and students are encouraged to collect them all. Students who achieve the final goal will receive a Packers Hall of Fame voucher good for one free participant admission and one reduced price adult admission. To register, please visit

Weekly tracking sheets are available in both English and Spanish and must be filled out and signed by parents or guardians to show completion of the required minutes. The deadline to turn in the final week’s tracking sheet is Monday, March 26.

Last year more than 20,000 students from across the state participated in the at-home reading program. Homeschoolers have also participated in the program, and are encouraged to continue doing so.
