Aaron Rodgers has a strong showing in Lake Tahoe

Packers quarterback ties for 18th at American Century Championship

GREEN BAY - Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers shot a 79 on Sunday at the American Century Championship at Edgewood Golf Club in South Lake Tahoe, Nev., finishing the three-day event in a tie for 18th place.

Rodgers, who has played in the event every summer since entering the NFL in 2005, shot 76-75-79 during the 54-hole event to finish with 44 points, tying Vikings receiver Adam Thielen.

Rodgers previously finished eighth in 2017, 32nd in 2016, 27th in both 2014 and 2015, tied for 22nd in 2013, tied for 35th in 2012, tied for 39th in 2011, tied for 43rd in 2010, 46th in 2009, 43rd in 2008, tied for 47th in 2007, tied for 32nd in 2006, and tied for 58th in 2005.

The American Century Championship's scoring system rewards players for eagles (six points), birdies (three) and pars (one), and deducts two points for double bogeys or worse.

Former Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk and receiver Sterling Sharpe also played in the event. Sharpe tied for 11th (50 points, 75-79-71), while Hawk finished tied for 53rd (five points, 84-90-85).

Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo rallied to shoot a 71 on the final day, dethroning three-time defending champion Mark Mulder. It marked Romo's first win at the event.
