Bidwell Punting To Help Fight Cancer

Green Bay Packers punter Josh Bidwell will be punting to support The Angel Fund, Inc., during the 2003 season. Bidwell will donate $125 for every punt he puts inside the 20-yard line and the Packers organization will match Bidwell's donation.

The Angel Fund, Inc., in its first year of existence, was developed to assist with the medical expenses incurred by children of Brown County who are fighting cancer.

Bidwell is himself a cancer survivor, having been diagnosed with testicular cancer in Sept. 1999, prior to his rookie season.

"The community supported me during the course of my cancer treatment," said Bidwell, who because he was 11 days away from his first regular-season game was ineligible for the NFLPA insurance program.

"I know the financial burden cancer treatment puts on a family. This is my way of saying thank you for the support while helping ease the financial burden of those who are in need."
