The Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay dedicated the Sam Miller Athletic Field Friday at its Lutsey Unit on Green Bay's east side.

The outdoor multi-purpose sports field was made possible through gifts from AMS from PacifiCare in honor of Miller and the NFL Youth Football Fund Grassroots Program.

The NFL Youth Football Fund Grassroots Program is a partnership of the National Football League Youth Football Fund and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) to provide non-profit, neighborhood-based organizations, middle schools and high schools with financing and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety, and accessibility of local football fields.

Today's dedication brings to fruition the field upgrade grant that was announced by the Packers and the Boys & Girls Club in January 2006.

Sam and Carol Miller were in attendance at Friday's dedication ceremony. Sam Miller threw out the ceremonial first ball and together with Carol announced a continuing support gift to the Club.

The Boys & Girls Club serves 8,000 kids – which is equal to 1 out of 2.5 youth enrolled in the Green Bay Public School District – giving them a safe, accepting, fun, and motivating place to go that is designed and staffed to serve their needs. All kids are welcome and pay just a $5 annual membership fee. For more information call 920.494.7090 or visit www.bgcgb.org.
