The Green Bay Packers and the Center for Childhood Safety will host the Packers Safety Playbook event Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lambeau Field Atrium.

The event will offer a variety of interactive safety stations so kids and families can explore ways to stay safe.

The first 600 attendees will receive free light-up safety belts, and the first 400 attendees will receive a free youth bike helmet courtesy of American Family Insurance, with items available based on size availability. The event will feature safety vehicles that families can see up close outside the American Family Insurance Gate, including an Eagle III helicopter, a fire truck, police cars, an ambulance, a rollover convincer showcasing the importance of wearing a seatbelt, and more.

Attendees are encouraged to watch the helicopter land around 11 a.m. and take off at 1:30 p.m., with timing subject to change based on weather conditions and any emergency calls that may come in.

Inside the Atrium will be a fire safety course, a large inflatable brain for kids to explore, a choking and abdominal thrust (Heimlich) station, along with more demonstrations to highlight various safety topics. Packers players will be present to do book readings as well as interact with attendees at the stations.

Additionally, a drug takeback station hosted by Brown County's Coalition for Change will also be held in the Atrium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone can bring prescription and over-the-counter medications for quick, secure disposal. Disposing of unused or expired medicines at a drug takeback event helps keep families and communities safer. More information on what will be accepted at this take-back can be found here.

The event can be accessed through the American Family Insurance Gate or the Miller Lite Gate on the east side of the Atrium.

The main stage in the Lambeau Field Atrium will also include activities throughout the event:

  • 9:15-9:30 a.m.: Packers player book reading
  • 9:45-10 a.m.: Car seat installation demo
  • 10:15-10:30 a.m.: Choking and abdominal thrust (Heimlich) demo
  • 11:45 a.m.-12 p.m.: Bike helmet fitting
  • 12:15-12:45 p.m.: Social media safety
  • 12:45-1 p.m.: Packers player book reading
  • 1:15-1:30 p.m.: Car seat installation demo

"Packers Safety Playbook" is one in a series of community events held each year as part of Green Bay Packers Give Back, the Packers' all-encompassing community outreach initiative. Combined with other Green Bay Packers charity endeavors, the event contributes to a comprehensive Packers charity impact that was in excess of $13 million last year.
