Fit Kids contest winners to attend Sunday's game

Fourth-graders won tickets through essay and poster contest

Among the fans cheering on the Packers at this Sunday's game will be 35 fourth-graders from the Green Bay Packers Fit Kids wellness program.

Winners of the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Fit Kids Ticket Giveaway Contest, the students qualified for the chance to go to the game by submitting an essay or poster that described what they do to stay healthy.

Each winning student was awarded two tickets – one for him or her and one for a parent or guardian to accompany them to the game. In addition to the game ticket, the winners also received two passes to the Green Bay Packers' MVP Party in the Tundra Tailgate Zone prior to the game.

"Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is committed to improving the lives of the people we serve and the health of Wisconsin communities," said Larry Schreiber, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin. "We received essays and posters from all over the state and were thrilled to see so many fourth graders thinking about and practicing healthy lifestyles. Congratulations to the winners and to all the students who participated for being healthy habits role models to their friends and family members."

Fit Kids is a free year-long fourth grade curriculum for public schools in Wisconsin designed to promote healthy living by focusing on the physical, nutritional and social aspects of good health. Fit Kids was developed in 2004 by several educators in the Green Bay Area Public School District, with support from the Green Bay Packers, CBS 5 WFRV-TV and the Karma Group. Several other districts adopted the program for the 2005-06 school year and in 2006-07 the program rolled out statewide. Currently in its ninth year, Fit Kids has been adopted by nearly 335 public school districts in the state, with thousands of students receiving the benefit of the successful curriculum.
