Husbands, boyfriends, friends, fathers, sons and daughters, are you looking for a unique experience for the female football fan in your life?

The Green Bay Packers have something of interest for you.

The Packers on Nov. 9 will host 'Football 101, an NFL Workshop for Women,' an interactive and entertaining evening geared for women to learn the basics of football.

While many football observers know the Green Bay Packers boast a fan base that is among the largest and most supportive in all of professional sports, many do not realize that almost half of the Packers Nation are women.

'Football 101' recognizes that fact. Sponsored by Usingers Famous Sausage and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, this year's event will take place in the Lambeau Field Atrium and in the Don Hutson Center. Cost for the evening is $50.

Packers Hall of Famer Johnnie Gray will lead the evening's activities, which include a welcome reception, a general lecture about football, a question-and-answer session with wives of Packers players, coaches and other personnel, a tour of Lambeau Field and a clinic and drills with Packers players at the Don Hutson Center.

The evening's agenda includes the following:

  • 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. - registration, Lambeau Field Atrium; hors d'oeuvres and refreshments.
  • 5 to 5:45 p.m. - welcome and informative football lecture.
  • 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. - question-and-answer session with wives of Packers players/coaches/personnel.
  • 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. - tour of Lambeau Field.
  • 7 to 8:00 p.m. - clinic/drills with Packers players at the Don Hutson Center.

A portion of the proceeds from 'Football 101' will benefit the Packers Women's Association (PWA), a non-profit organization whose main focus is "teaming up with the community."

The Packers are accepting the first 250 women to register. Payment of $50 is due in advance. Sign-up forms are available online. You also may register by calling 920-569-7249. A ticket for the event will be sent following receipt of the registration fee.
