GREEN BAY – Former head coach Mike Holmgren, who led the Packers to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances in the 1996-97 seasons, including the Super Bowl XXXI title, is once again under consideration for Pro Football Hall of Fame induction.
Holmgren is one of five individuals being pushed forward in the selection process in the coach category. Later this month, the group of five will be narrowed down to one coach nominee for potential induction in Canton's class of 2027.
The other former coaches under consideration are Bill Belichick, Tom Coughlin, Dan Reeves and Mike Shanahan.
In addition to his accomplishments with the Packers, which included six straight postseason berths, Holmgren also led the Seattle Seahawks to their first-ever Super Bowl appearance, and he won two Super Bowl rings as an assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers.
Including playoffs, Holmgren won exactly two-thirds of his games as head coach of the Packers from 1992-98, posting a record of 84-42 (75-37 regular season). In 10 seasons with the Seahawks, he went 90-80, including postseason, for an overall mark of 174-122 (.588 winning percentage).
