Bert Askson, who played tight end for the Green Bay Packers from 1975-77, died July 24, 2026, in Houston, Texas. He was 80.
Askson played in every game during his three seasons with the Packers but started only once and caught a mere five passes. The Packers signed Askson as a free agent after he had played a season in the World Football League. Previously, he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1971 and in one game for New Orleans in 1973.
