Wayne "Buddy" Geis, Green Bay Packers wide receivers coach from 1988-91, died July 2, 2025, after a battle with leukemia. Geis, who was living in Neptune Beach, Fla., outside Jacksonville, was 79.

Geis served under head coach Lindy Infante during his time with the Packers and was the position coach for Sterling Sharpe during his first four seasons in the NFL. Sharpe will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 2. In fact, when Geis was inducted into the Blair County Sports Hall of Fame in Altoona, Pa., in 2010, Sharpe was his presenter.

Geis also served as an NFL assistant with Indianapolis and Dallas.
