Mark Murphy, Nick Collins, Jordy Nelson, Brady Poppinga On The Road
The Packers today announced plans for the fourth 'Green Bay Packers Tailgate Tour,' set for May 11-14, 2009, setting out across the state to thank fans in person for their passionate support of the club through the years.
The traveling group will include Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy, safety Nick Collins, a 2008 Pro Bowl selection, wide receiver Jordy Nelson and linebacker Brady Poppinga.
The tour will take place aboard a customized motor coach emblazoned with the logo "Green Bay Packers Tailgate Tour" and the phrase "Touching Down in Your Community." The tour will make stops in Marshfield (May 11), Hudson (May 12), Platteville (May 13) and Beaver Dam (May 14).
The motor coach will make one scheduled stop during the day at a site to be determined in each area. At the visit, tour members will have the opportunity to mingle with fans and say "thanks." In addition to the planned stops, surprise stops will be made as the schedule allows.
Culminating the day's activities during the 'Tailgate Tour' will be an evening tailgate party in each city from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with a flavor of famous Lambeau Field tailgating, hosted by a local non-profit organization. The parties will feature food and mingling with the Packers representatives. At each tailgate party, footballs autographed by each tour member will be given away as door prizes. Tailgate party tickets will cost $25, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the hosting organization.
"We look forward to meeting fans across the state," said Murphy. "I had a fantastic time on last year's tour, my first with the Packers. It was a great way to experience the excitement the fans have for the players and the organization. We also enjoy the opportunity to help out a great local organization."
Tickets for the respective tailgate parties will go on sale March 16, with ticket information to be available at that time. 'Green Bay Packers Tailgate Tour' evening tailgate party locations and hosting organizations are as follows (6 to 8:30 p.m. in each city):
• Marshfield: Location to be determined. To benefit the Personal Development Center.
• Hudson: Lakefront Park. To benefit Hudson Boosters Inc.
• Platteville: The Barn, next to Instant Shade Nursery. To benefit Wisconsin Badger Camp.
• Beaver Dam: Beaver Dam High School. To benefit the Beaver Dam Scholarship Foundation.
