The Green Bay Packers Monday signed a pair of nondrafted free agents, Ben Brown and Kevin Schimmelmann. The additions were announced by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

Both players took part in the Packers' recent three-day mini-camp on a tryout basis.

The rookie from Los Banos, Calif., played in 12 games last season, rushing for 507 yards on 77 carries (6.6 avg.) and three touchdowns. He also caught 24 passes for 304 yards (12.7 avg.) and two TDs.

Schimmelmann, a 6-foot-3, 228-pound linebacker from Stanford, lettered four years (2002-05) and started the past three campaigns for the Cardinal. He finished his career with 200 tackles (116 solo), 17 stops for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery, on which he scored a touchdown this past season. The rookie hails from Marietta, Ga.
