GREEN BAY – So how do the two record completion streaks compare?
When Packers QB Jordan Love completed 20 straight passes in Sunday night's 35-25 victory in Pittsburgh, he tied Brett Favre's franchise record for consecutive completions set in 2007.
Interestingly, both performances occurred in nationally televised games, and the only NFL game on at the time, so the audience watching both was enormous.
For a refresher, Favre's record-setting streak came on Thanksgiving Day in '07 at Detroit, a 37-26 Packers victory.
It started with Green Bay leading 14-9 late in the second quarter and ended with a 34-12 advantage early in the fourth when a field goal was kicked just after the streak was snapped.
Love's began with the Packers trailing 16-7 late in the second quarter and ended with a 32-19 lead, when a field goal similarly was added just after the streak was broken.
One interesting anomaly with each:
Love's streak is theoretically 21 straight completions thanks to his two-point conversion pass to WR Romeo Doubs. But statistically it won't count as 21 because rushes/passes/receptions/yards on PATs don't go on anyone's individual statistics. Only the two points for Doubs.
Favre's streak was almost broken at 16, but a defensive pass interference penalty wiped out the incompletion and kept it alive for four more completions.
Here's a deeper dive into the numbers comparing the two streaks.
