Inbox: Snowy football in Lambeau just somethin' else

Super Bowls make us happy; memories make us rich

  1. Which game are you most excited about on the Packers' 2025 regular-season schedule?

Andy from Verona, WI

If this happens to get published, I would like to wish my wonderful wife a happy 19th anniversary. Marrying her was the best decision I've ever made! The game I'm most excited about is the opener vs. the Lions. We finally get a home game to start the season and to be the best, we need to beat the best. I want to see how our rookies are involved in the game plan, how much our veterans have improved, new wrinkles on offense/defense, and Detroit's two new coordinators' game plans.

Gordon from Newport Beach, CA

Week 12 – November 23 vs. Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field. Most likely Packers fall game for snowfall. Late November aligns with the snowiest period per the Farmers' Almanac. Lambeau Field is historically prone to early snow. Snowy football in Lambeau just somethin' else – flakes falling, breath hanging in the air, and the whole field looking like a postcard from the Northwoods. Just feels right.

Charles from New Berlin, WI

I am most excited about seeing the Packers in Phoenix in October. Every year my bride and close friends do a road trip to watch our favorite team. This year, it will turn into an extended vacation including golf, swimming and a Packers Everywhere pep rally. GPG!

Carl from Sheboygan, WI

The game I'm most excited to see is the game vs. the Washington Commanders. I always make it a point to attend at least one game each year with my sons, and the Washington game is the game this year. It's a tradition we started about 10 years ago and plan to continue for many years.

Adrian from Chula Vista, CA

Dallas Cowboys. With me being a Texas native, a huge contingent of my family claim allegiance to the Cowboys. I plan to attend the game and be the only Packer fan in a huge throng of Cowboy fanatics. As soon as the schedule was released, chatter started with my relatives claiming the Packers as roadkill on their way to the Lombardi trophy. I'm just hoping that the Packers domination over the Cowboys continue for one more game.

Uriah from Grand Prairie, TX

Sunday Night Football in Arlington, TX. This will be my third straight Packer game at AT&T Stadium (Lambeau Southwest), and the last two have been spectacular showings from both the team and the cheeseheads. Standing room only tickets aren't so pricey, and if you get there early enough, you can get to the front row of one of the staircases with a great view. Come on down, y'all!

Monty from Velva, ND

I'm looking forward to the Cowboys game. With Mike McCarthy no longer coaching them, I can get back to hoping we beat them by 50 or more points!

Gavin from Albuquerque, NM

Green Bay at Dallas. My wife and I are going, my second NFL game live and my first Packers game. She's as avid a Cowboys fan as I am a Packers fan and owner. We're both psyched about seeing them play against each other. Every time she tries to bring up homefield advantage, I remind her we have more playoff wins in that stadium than they do. Week 4 cannot come soon enough! GO PACK GO!

Cameron from Centreville, VA

I am most excited for our rematch against the Eagles in Week 10. Just something about how last year started and ended irks me and I'm excited to see how this year's team adjusts to the challenge of going against the reigning champs.

Wayne from Lake Hallie, WI

The games I am most excited about for 2025 are the two against the Bears. Comments made by Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams in the offseason about Matt LaFleur and the Packers in general sounded extremely arrogant and personal. I realize that each game is "business as usual" for the players and coaches but for me personally I want the Packers to kick the "living (stuffing)!" out of the Bears! Is hope that is not too harsh for the Inbox?

Al from Green Bay, WI

Easy answer. The home-opener versus the Lions. Why? Well, it's the first season opener at Lambeau for a while. Also, like it or not, the Lions are currently the class of the NFC North. I want to see how we match up right away against a strong opponent who is adjusting to the loss of two key coordinators. Lastly, since it is the opener, assuming Packers fans don't sell their tickets the atmosphere will be electric!

Terri from Williams, AZ

The Packers game I'm most looking forward to is the Arizona Cardinals game because I'll be there.

Dustin from Kansas City, MO

I'm really looking forward to the Cincinnati game in Week 6. We will be coming out of our bye and should have an idea of what kind of team we are after playing the first four games. It'll be interesting to see what kind of adjustments the coaching staff makes as they prepare for the long back half of the season. Plus, Cincinnati is a tough team with a superstar QB, so it should be a good game.

Richard from Farmington Hills, MI

When my son was 12, he finally twisted my arm enough to take the eight-hour drive to take him to a game at Lambeau. We've gone to one home game a year ever since, adding a few family members in recent years. This year's game will be the Bengals on Oct. 12. A family tradition like none other!

Josh from Randolph, NJ

I'm most excited for the Packers-Bengals game this year. I think both offenses will be explosive, and it might be our highest scoring game of the year.

CJ from Waxahachie, TX

The game I'm most excited for is Week 4 in Dallas. I'm going to try to get tickets. If I'm successful, this will be the fourth GB/DAL matchup for me overall. We've won every game I've attended; hopefully we can keep the streak alive.

Steve from Middletown, KY

The Steelers. Even though I'm an Aaron Rodgers fan, I do not want to see him beat all 32 teams like Brett Favre (I'm a big fan of his) did.

Jordan from San Antonio, TX

I am most excited about the Steelers game. My dad is a Steelers fan and watching our last Super Bowl win with him is one of my fondest memories. My mom made us both our own favorite game day meals. No big party. Just me, pops and championship football. No trash talk, some friendly banter and a shared love for the game on its biggest stage. Super Bowls make us happy; memories make us rich. Seeing AR12 in black and yellow will make our relationship even richer.

Ben from Cripple Creek, CO

It's gotta be Packers at Steelers, right? But, if I am able to swing a trip to Mile High (three-and-a-half-hour drive for me – if it's snowing, probably not doable) that would be my first in person NFL game – and that would probably be my favorite.

Skinner from De Pere, WI

I am most excited about the Packers playing at Pittsburgh against A-Rod on Sunday Night Football. It will be strange to play against him, almost as bizarre as it was to play against Favre in a purple uniform.

  1. Who is the oldest NFL quarterback you've seen play in-person?

Jim from LaPlata, MD

In 1955, I saw Tobin Rote play as the Packers' QB. He had quite a day with three TD passes and a rushing TD. The Packers beat the Chicago Cardinals, 31-14. I've always wondered what would have transpired if Rote was still a Packer when Vince Lombardi was hired in 1959.

Arn from Kenosha, WI

And thank you for asking: Although rooting against him, I was fortunate enough to watch Roger Staubach decimate my Youngstown State Penguins by throwing for 455 yards on Oct. 12, 1968. The game was played at Rayen (high school) stadium in Youngstown. Staubach had won the Heisman Trophy five years earlier and was playing for the Pensacola Navy Midshipmen. This game among others caused the Penguins to have their first losing season in 10 years. Go Penguins!

James from Asheville, NC

In response to the question "Who is the oldest NFL quarterback you saw play?" mine would be Earl Morrall. Growing up in Miami, I saw Morrall play one of his final games in 1976 at the age of 42. As an aside and connection to the Packers I also saw Jack Concannon in an exhibition game against the Dolphins in 1974, his lone year wearing the Green and Gold.

Vince from Mableton, GA

In 1975, when I was ten years old, I witnessed Billy Wade playing at age 45. Mr. Wade had been the overall No. 1 pick by the Rams in 1952 and was probably the last competent QB the Bears ever had in the '60s. I think he even won a championship with them. Now, you say, Billy Wade retired before the 1967 season so how did you see him play? Well, I actually played catch and ran some routes with him in his front yard in Nashville when my dad took me over for a visit. That's how.

Rick from Woodstock, GA

In the late 1960s, I had the privilege of attending two games at County Stadium in Milwaukee, and saw the "old" QBs Bart Starr, Roman Gabreal and Fran Tarkenton.

Joe from Eau Claire, WI

A 38-year-old Fran Tarkenton on Nov. 26, 1978, that finished in a 10-10 time against the Vikings at Lambeau Field. Tarkenton completed two fourth-down passes late in regulation capped by a short TD pass to Ahmad Rashad to force overtime. Both teams missed field goals in OT.

Bret from Hertel, WI

I am excited about all of them because winning any game in the national football league is extremely hard. If I had to pick a game, it would be the first one being Matt LaFleur's first home game and first of the season at home. Having two games at home, you want to start out fast and you have to win the first one to do that.

Dan from Catonsville, MD

The oldest QB I ever saw play in-person was Sonny Jurgenson in 1965 vs. Dallas. It was a game in November, and he threw for over 400 yards that day. In those days of NFL football that was an extreme rarity. As an 11-year-old watching him throw the football, I was awe struck of how great an arm Jurgenson had as a QB. He won the game by throwing a fade to the end zone to a receiver named A. Coia. Sonny Jurgenson was one talented QB!

Doug from Neenah, WI

The Packers hosted Pittsburgh for a preseason game on August 14, 1971. Bart Starr was in his 16th and final year as a player. Terry Bradshaw, first overall pick in the 1970 draft, started for the Steelers. He played one series, scored a TD into the North end zone and was done for the night. A few other aging "Lombardi Legends" also played like Willie Wood, Dave Robinson, Ray Nitschke, Elijah Pitts, Gale Gillingham, Carroll Dale, Ken Bowman and 40-year-old Zeke Bratkowski. End of an era.

Mary from Big Bear City, CA

I don't know if this counts, but I saw Jim Plunkett play in the 1971 Rose Bowl. We had great seats on the 50-yard line behind the Ohio State bench. It was a great game, and I was amazed at the size of the players.

Shawn from Kissimmee, FL

Brett Favre vs Dan Marino on Aug 13, 1994, at Milwaukee County Stadium. My first-ever game in attendance, even though it was a preseason, and were my two favorite teams (born in South FL, raised in WI). They both played in the game, Marino was coming back from an ACL tear and Favre was just getting started towards his years of glory.

Derek from Lexington, KY

I've only had the privilege of attending three regular season Packers games, none of them at Lambeau (and all of them losses). My first game was when I was nine; I saw the Pack lose to the Lions in overtime at Milwaukee County Stadium. I remember being disappointed and also cold. That is unsurprisingly when I saw my oldest QB which was Lynn Dickey. I think that's probably a common answer, though.

Al from Tulsa, OK

I saw 30-year-old Bart Starr beat the Cleveland Browns at Milwaukee County Stadium on Nov. 22, 1964. The Packers held Jim Brown to fewer than 100 yards and handed the eventual NFL champion Browns one of their only three losses that year. For the record I saw 34-year-old Aaron Rodgers play the Rams in 2018 at the LA Coliseum, but I guess that doesn't qualify.

Susan from Santa Cruz, CA

This response may not qualify for the question, since I did not actually see Joe Namath play in person. However, in the late 1980s, I had a high school summer job at the Embassy Suites in Green Bay and served him some coffee one morning. He was in town for a celebrity golf tournament. Clearly, visiting some of the local taverns the prior evening left an impression on him.
