So, score 27 points, win the game. It seems simple enough from here on out.
It's starting to get downright bizarre.

Welcome back, Heart Attack Pack.
This team just needed a win on the road, no matter how it got one. For all the angst and consternation and everything else, which can't be ignored, that's just how I feel as I type this.
Dominic from Chesapeake, VA
Mike, I hope you and Wes enjoyed your trip to AZ. Our turnovers today made a huge difference and our D showed up in the fourth quarter. Kudos to Love on keeping his focus and playing great when we needed him the most. Can you think of the most recent game we have had with this level of fourth-quarter efficiency? Just curious.
Not in all respects, but in some, this game to me was reminiscent of the home win over Houston last year. Lots of choppiness and frustrating moments, but they found a way. That matters.
Judy from Brodhead, WI
My heart almost stopped when I saw the offense back on the field for the fourth-and-2! What was your reaction at that moment?
It was gutsy as hell, but it also made all the sense in the world.
Will from Rochester, MN
"Scared $ don't make $." Didn't anyone tell ML gambling is illegal at Bushwood? From what I heard, his fourth-down change of mind wasn't a gamble at all. He could see it in Love's face. What a call! What true belief in your team! What execution! What leadership! I'm glad they didn't slice.
Hahahaha. That's nicely done on several fronts. I did my best to put everything about the fourth-down call in the right context in **my Rapid Reaction piece**, so please indulge me there.
Al from Hartford, WI
Just win baby, right? Good to get a "road" win. What is your educated guess on the fan split yesterday? The joint sounded pretty loud on that last fourth-and-10.
I'm terrible at these estimates, but it was at least 60-40 Packers fans if not 70-30 in my book. Incredible showing, though not all that surprising.
Bob from Rome, NY
Mike, were you surprised by the AZ fourth-and-1 play call? After the Packers' substitution, I expected some kind of bootleg with a pass-run option, especially with the difficulty GB had covering the TE. Your thoughts?
Honestly, I thought they were bluffing and just trying to draw the Packers offside, which they'd done twice earlier. I didn't think Brissett was going to snap it, and they'd punt the Packers back to the 10 and make them go the whole way. But that's not how the game is played anymore.
Chuck from Whitewater, WI
In your recap of the game, I counted 12 Packer penalties mentioned that affected field position or negated positive plays. LaFleur has harped on the penalties. What's next?
I don't know. It felt like they were playing uphill against the flags all game, even though they got some help on Arizona penalties, too. Was it just one of those games? Based on what we've seen, that's too dismissive. The offense didn't have any giveaways and the defense got a takeaway (or two, if you count the late fourth down). So that helps, but as LaFleur said this team is still a long way from playing its best.
Jennifer from Middleton, WI
Hi Spoff, what X said today after the game was perfect. To paraphrase, we love a win, but it won't be a win against really good teams if they don't execute better and prevent mistakes. When he speaks it's always a good reminder that all this fan angst isn't needed because these guys know. Yet, they are still waiting for the knowing to turn into doing. Am I right the theory is to stay consistent on process and believe it will eventually gel?
For sure, the players have to trust the process and be honest with themselves. Leaders like X are crucial within that. I'm sure the defense is beyond annoyed for allowing conversions on third-and-23 and third-and-14 when they gave the offense free plays by jumping offsides. That's just awful defensive football and they know it. Both those third-and-forevers led to touchdowns. Every week, anyone can see the play here and the play there the defense needs to make. It has to start making them.
Joe from Swansea, IL
Looks like Hod got the big game he was predicting for Micah Parsons, and then some. 1's moto never stops, does it?
He's as relentless as any defensive player I've covered, I know that.
Gary from Arlington Heights, IL
Do you find it odd that the week after Micah complains about not getting holding calls he is penalized for hip-drop tackle? From what I can find it's only the second called in the NFL in 2025! GPG!
It's the first one I've seen called live in a game I've been watching. It did look like a violation, but I don't think it had anything to do with Micah's comments during the week. That doesn't strike me as fair to say when the officials do their job correctly. I guess we'll see what the league thinks based on whether it issues a fine.
Pete from Music City, TN
Backup hits a 61-yard field goal. What does Gute do when McManus gets healthy? Good problem to have.
Maybe he can get a draft pick from somebody for him. Who knows? Regardless, what a job by Havrisik, and what a kick. What they're saying about the relaxed rule with the K-balls adding 7-8 yards appears to be true, but that's still one heckuva kick.
John from Mequon, WI
Seven seconds left in the half and I'm saying to the TV: "Take a knee and regroup." Instead, the two plays that changed the game occurred in that span thanks to a coach not conceding one iota. Those three points forced the Cardinals to score a touchdown to win. Seven amazing seconds!
I said the same thing in the live blog at the time. I just didn't think a chance to score was realistic. But I didn't have the substitute teacher/kicker hitting a franchise record on my bingo card.
Dave from Comer, GA
With seconds left in the first half, MLF elected to not take a knee and we wound up with three vital points that eventually meant a win rather than a loss. A few weeks ago he opted to do the same thing and it backfired by being a turnover. I'm just glad our play caller is consistent in his aggressive play calling. It's the execution that changes the outcome.
There's that, but the Packers also were at the 35-yard line in Arizona as opposed to around the 20 in Dallas. Big difference.
Chris from Bettendorf, IA
There are no bad wins in the NFL. That said, through three quarters third down was bad on both sides of the ball, too many deep balls still getting completed and the run defense was not as stout as it has been. Then the fourth quarter came. Converted third and fourth downs, big stuff on fourth-and-1, and a pass rush that was good all game found another gear. Do we take anything away from this game besides the Packers were 1-0 this week? For the record that's enough for me.
Failing at crunch time can undo a lot of good. Succeeding at crunch time can compensate for a lot of bad. That's this league. Just look around. Every team is examining its shortcomings and working to get better, and the ones who accomplish that most effectively are usually the last still standing.
Jon from Temecula, CA
Every win is a gift. But we play down to the level of our competition every game. And even at 4-1-1, I don't have confidence that this team can win against real opponents. Trailing all game and barely squeaking out a win against a team that lost to the Titans says this team doesn't have an identity. Whether it's play, play calling, penalties, or something else, it seems like we are flying by the seat of our pants every snap, and it has to come back to bite us later on. Sorry for being a downer.
I agree there's a lack of identity, but I'm not sweating that in October. Speaking of identities, I was sick of the "team that lost to the Titans" in the live blog and I'm more sick of it now. If that's how you (and this is meant not for one person, but many) define the Cardinals, you don't know the NFL. Look at how they lost that game to the Titans, on a couple of total fluke plays. And I mean absolute flukes. And look at how tough they played the Niners, Seahawks and Colts, all of whom have winning records. I'm not saying that Arizona team is world beaters, but it's no slouch, and Brissett just may be a better QB than Murray, though that's for them to decide. This win wasn't pretty by any means, and the Packers hurt themselves plenty, but anyone who thought the Cardinals were some pushover hasn't been paying ANY attention.

Is it time to quit using the term "ugly win" in NFL games?
Not necessarily, but they're more common than most fans care to admit.
Check out photos from the Week 7 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025.

What a lousy win against a lousy team playing a bunch of second-stringers. The Steelers game will be ugly. I know that most Packers feel the same way.
OK.
Stuart from Roanoke, VA
Mike, great gritty road win by the Packers. It wasn't on in our area so thanks for the live blog. Looking ahead to Pittsburgh, do you think the condition of the field (or lack thereof) in Pittsburgh will influence whether or not Christian Watson is active for the game? I have nightmares of another Jordy Nelson type injury if he is brought back this week. I say save him for the second half of the season and not take any chances.
I hadn't even thought about that until you brought it up. I guess we'll see. Regardless, I'm sure his snap count will be limited in his first game back.
Rhonda from Italy, TX
Just curious, were you on the first plane, or the delayed second one? And, is there assigned flights, as to who goes on which plane?
We were on the first one, the "staff" plane. It's smaller than the one that takes the players and most of the coaches (some coaches get the business/first class seats on the staff plane). Everything is assigned, down to the seat, though Wes and I have our routine where he takes the window and I take the aisle no matter which nametag is where. The extra-long travel day had to be tough on the players.
Robert from Las Vegas, NV
After watching games today, I "hope" the owners will outlaw the "tush push" as well as the "tush pull." I saw more pulling of players today, than I've seen in 15 years...
It's just gotten ridiculous now, and anyone who thought it wouldn't was being hopelessly naïve.

UW football just keeps sinking further.
With Oregon up next. Fun.

I feel so bad for the Brewers after a fantastic season. But, you have to give a tip of the hat to Shohei Ohtani. Do you think we will ever witness something that remarkable in any sport in a playoff setting? Offense and defense, simply amazing. It hurts.
Ohtani will be must-see TV in the World Series. Just an otherworldly player. I wish the Brewers could've given the Dodgers a run for their money (I'll see myself out), but basically two-thirds of the lineup didn't hit a ball hard the entire series and never looked like themselves at the plate. It's hard to win when you don't play your game.
Joe from Fargo, ND
I know it's a line drive in the win/loss column, but it felt more like a check-swing bloop single over the outstretched glove of the leaping second basemen. It's the NFL and any team can beat any other team, but it would sure be nice to have a victory like we had the first two games of the season. I just hope we can hit enough bloop singles that if we do play our best ball in December it will mean something. GPG!
It's always better when that blooper drops in rather than gets snagged. Meanwhile, the ninth inning remains a long ways off.
Jeff from Foothill Ranch, CA
"Not in my house either, but this is a family blog" is an all-timer, Mike. T-shirt worthy. I think MLF needs to start reading Inbox and One Last Look because they are not heeding the keys to victory you and Wes lay out. Sheesh.
I confess I had a rough live blog. Too many typos, other mistakes with yard markers. I'm still adjusting to my new computer, the press box view wasn't great, and the press box TV was WAY behind the live action, much more so than usual. I'm making tons of excuses, and I felt like a mess up there. I'll be better, and hopefully I made up for it with a **timely Game Recap**, which was posted about 90 minutes after the game ended.

Just another day in the life of a Packer fan.
And website editor.
Scott from Reno, NV
Where do I start? A fourth victory with the Pack scoring 27 points! A 61-yard field goal by our substitute kicker! Jacobs playing hurt and going into beast mode! Parsons being absolutely unstoppable! LaFleur having the (stones) to go for the win on fourth down! The entire team enduring a 6-hour flight delay and still fighting to the end! And ARod and the Steelers up next! God, I love football.
Are you not entertained? Happy Monday.
