Five Ws at 27 before the last two games averaging 27 points each (23 and 31). I want Kitan Oladapo to buy my next lottery ticket.
This just isn't going away, is it?
Rex from Laramie, WY
It wasn't perfect, but at least it wasn't ugly.
That was two really good teams going at it for 60 minutes. Exactly what late-season football is supposed to be about. What a battle.
Dewey from Newburg, OR
Two wins in five days against divisional opponents, and now a mini-bye. Doncha love it when plan comes together?!
The Packers just about eliminated the Vikings, and now they've got the Lions scoreboard watching a bit. Onto the Bears. The games just keep getting bigger.
H.R. from Henderson, NV
The decision, the call, the throw, the catch. That took some serious cajones.
That's one way to put it.
Jon from Bluffton, SC
Any objection to giving MLF a game ball today?
Not from me. He showed the ultimate trust in his players, and they made him right.
Dan from Wausau, WI
Did … Matt LaFleur just out-Dan Campbell Dan Campbell?
That too, which was a common submission from this one.
Eric from Ankeny, IA
Going for it on fourth down that last series was beyond aggressive. It was the ultimate confidence in your team by a coach. I wonder if Devonte Wyatt's injury influenced that decision. GPG
I don't think that had anything to do with it. I couldn't quite get into LaFleur's head because I was figuring a run on third down kills another 40 seconds and then if you're close on fourth down you can make the decision then. The pass on third down should've told me he was going for broke on offense. He told his QB he had two plays. Christian Watson could've just caught the third-down pass and saved all the trouble, right?
Dan from Westerville, OH
I know Dan Campbell has made a name for himself going for it on fourth down, but I can't for the life of me figure out why he went for it the last time while in field-goal range in a game where he was down 10. Do you have any idea what possessed him to eschew the field goal his team absolutely needed?
First, it's just how he's wired. If it's a manageable distance, he's going to push. Second, I suspect the way his defense was playing (and struggling with Jordan Love's passing attack), he didn't want to put that unit in a position where if it gave up a field goal the other way, it was a two-score game again. Get the TD, and his defense can still give up a field goal to stay in it. That's my best guess.
Jerry from Lancaster, CA
Not really a question, but I have watched Dontayvion Wicks since he got to GB. His first year, if memory serves, he led the league in separation for all wide receivers. That is a God-given talent as some have it and most don't. He still seems to just have a little more separation than most. I like this young man and hope that he continues to ascend to great heights in his career. Congratulations on your two TDs and game clinching catch! First TD was also quite remarkable.
Just a dynamite performance by Wicks, and I didn't even know about the lost shoe until I was in the TSA line in the airport hangar and one of our security guys said to me, "Did you see Wicks jump literally right out of his shoe?" I've felt all season in locker room interviews he's wanted to go out and prove who he is, that last year's struggles wouldn't define him, but the nagging calf injury has just bogged him down. Can't help but feel good for him, and hopefully this is just the start of a strong stretch run.
Tim from Lino Lakes, MN
In looking at the team statistics, it's hard to tell who won this game. But watching the game, I like what I see. Confidence and aggressiveness from the HC to DC to players. There are many obvious players, but how about all the men that kept the Detroit defensive front, esp A. Hutchinson, away from J. Love. What did you see?
Green Bay's pass protection held up quite well. Love had time and a good feel for the pocket all game, and he kept going after their man coverage, giving his guys chances to make plays. You can sense how much Love trusts his teammates. The way he played that game showed it throughout.
Charles from New Berlin, WI
Did coach put the air back into the ball?
Ha, he had to. The Lions' pass defense is their one trouble spot, especially with all the injuries they've had. I thought the Packers ran the ball enough early to keep them honest, but this was Love's game to go win, and he did.
Marty from Rancho Cordova, CA
Holy bratwurst! Did Micah Parsons have 27 sacks?
Officially 2½, and now 8½ in five career Thanksgiving games. What a monster he is. Just a beast. He brings to mind that great line from Apollo Creed's trainer in Rocky II: "I saw a man get (blocked) like no man been (blocked) before, and that man … just … kept … coming … after you."
Richard from Canton, GA
27 would have been enough, but I sure am glad we had that little extra. That was as close to a complete game as we have seen this season, except the big plays. Was it mistakes or just a good offense getting paid as well?
That Lions offense is explosive. Has been for a few years now. The Packers have been really good at limiting big gains from the opponent all season, but the Lions got their share in this one. Give them credit, especially without LaPorta and St. Brown. It's what they do. I thought Goff was very decisive and the coverage disguises just didn't work at certain times. He figured out what the Packers were in and fired with conviction. Other than the one TD when he sat back there all day, if he had any hesitation, the pass rush was getting there.

Kevin from Albany, NY
Great win on Turkey Day in Detroit! Just wondering if DC Hafley and other D coaches will revisit wrapping up when tackling. Carrington Valentine was there on Williams' late second quarter TD but tried to take him down with a shoulder tackle, instead of wrapping him up. FOX crew mentioned at halftime that it was a big momentum play for Detroit, glad it didn't come back to haunt the Pack.
That was the most regrettable defensive play of the day by a defender who has been playing really well. It was too bad because CV diagnosed the play beautifully and just didn't finish. Much like Edgerrin Cooper on the third-down screen against the Giants, from a potential huge play to a disaster in a flash. That cost four points because I don't think Campbell would've gone for it on fourth down there.
Jennifer from Middleton, WI
You know, it's weird … that fourth-down conversion and win came with the kind of elation normally associated with a come-from-behind win. Man, it feels good! I don't think I've ever been so nervous about a game when we led for so much of it. Woohoo!
That's a testament to how good the Lions are. That's a seriously tough bunch. They have five losses now, and the only real surprise one was to the Vikings, but they turned it over a bunch in that game. I wouldn't be shocked if they get on a run here and stay right in the playoff chase, though they're gonna have their hands full next Thursday night with the Cowboys, who just beat last year's two Super Bowl teams four days apart. I wonder if a team's ever pulled that off before.
Shane from Pembroke, NH
No formal turnovers, but that turnover on downs after the half was a difference maker in the game and huge deal.
Turnovers on downs certainly function the same as traditional turnovers. And yes, it was a huge swing. The Packers went from dominating the first half to only leading by three due to the Lions' late score, and then faced potentially trailing with Detroit getting the double-up chance after halftime. The deep shot to Watson two plays after the stop restored the 10-point lead, and the Lions never had another possession when down by just one score.
John from Spring Hill, TN
I didn't complain about the no PI call on Watson late in the game. The officials had been pocketing the flags all game. I also think the illegal contact call was legitimate on the Lions' next possession. But it was hard to swallow both those going the Lions' way on back-to-back possessions – especially when the illegal contact drive ended with Wyatt injured.
Such a tough deal for Wyatt. You hate to see that. More adversity to overcome, but that's this game. It's brutal. As for the officiating, either you call it tight or you let them play. Pick one and stick with it. I'm just glad it's not "the" discussion postgame, because for those two calls to come on back-to-back drives was certainly frustrating.
Richard from Ashland, WI
How much should Packers fans be worried with Wyatt going out? Feels like he's essential to the run defense.
He's been a key piece to the run defense and the interior pass rush. The defense is different with him out there, but they're going to ask the two Georgia rookies for more, Nazir Stackhouse against the run and Warren Brinson in the pass rush. Hopefully the unit can get Karl Brooks and Lukas Van Ness back from injury, too.
Tommy from Washburn, WI
Great game! Go Pack Go! My question is, why wasn't that early fumble recovery in the red zone a first down? The receiver passed the line to gain, then fumbled. So why not a first down?
Because there is no first down until the play is over. Rasheed Walker might've made the fumble recovery of the year right there.

I'm wondering if you guys could share what was going on in the postgame press conference that annoyed Matt? Just curious.
A camera operator, who presumably worked for the league because she said afterward the NFL called her, was trying to talk quietly on her phone while LaFleur was answering a question. It doesn't matter if that call is from Roger, you don't answer it in the middle of a press conference.
Cindy from Minneapolis, MN
Chris Berman refers to the NFC North as the NFC Norris; now that the NHL doesn't use it anymore, maybe we can?
I appreciate the sentiment, but when the Bears get their new stadium built, three of the four teams in the division will play indoors. I don't think that'll warrant any special name, unfortunately.
Bill from Clive, IA
In the column of comments by coaches and coordinators, Bisaccia mentioned "three phases" and "five phases." What are they?
In special teams, the "four core" are the punt and kickoff return/coverage units. Then the additional two beyond that are field goal protection/block.
Susan from Santa Cruz, CA
I'm pretty sure Stephie Rae from Flowery Branch was confused about what was on the Madden patch, rather than why Madden was honored. Personally, it took me awhile to see Madden's face in it. Once I spotted his face, it was obvious. But, I showed the pictures of the patch to friends (without context) and no one could figure out who was depicted.
I've never had any trouble seeing it, but it's like one of those positive/negative space things, I guess.

Where can I find official gamebooks from the games? Packers.com provided them in the past for all games but I cannot find them anymore.
On the desktop site, go to the schedule page, and then click on the Game Center button for any completed game. In the scoreboard box at the top of the page, in the lower right corner, is a link to Gamebook PDF. You can find it there.
Mike from Geneva, IL
I think LaFleur proved he isn't a conservative coach. The fourth-down calls all had an enormous effect on the outcome of the game. The last one was unexpected but the TV announcers said the analytics were 50/50. Would you prefer an Eagles victory to move into first or Bears win and control your destiny by beating them twice to possibly win the division and have a better conference standing at the end of the year?
I get where you're coming from, but I'm always focused on winning the division first. Whatever helps the Packers do that is where I lean. But either way, there will be a good result for Green Bay. That's two eight-win teams, and both can't get their ninth win this week.
Ethan from Milwaukee, WI
In response to John from Illinois: Spoff and Hod, today I am thankful for all you do, pithy headlines and all. It would be a fib to opine that your work is "obtuse."
Nice vocabulary there.
Kathryn from Greenville, WI
Has turkey ever tasted so good?
What a day.

Now, let's just beat the Bears!
Happy Friday.
