II, I thought it was 27 to win!
No complaints.
Don from Torrington, CT
A historic win. But what went on during Coach LaFleur's postgame? Didn't anyone from the press show up?
As I listened on my computer to Pete Dougherty get practically a one-on-one with the head coach, I really wish I would've been there. I covered this game from back in Green Bay because I couldn't travel Saturday. So it goes.
Adrian from Oregon City, OR
Was this a statement game? Jordan Love? Tucker Kraft? Christian Watson? Micah Parsons and Rashan Gary? Quay Walker and Edgerrin Cooper? Erased a deficit and dominated the second half. Impressive. The one team Aaron Rodgers hasn't defeated.
I'm not big into statements. The Steelers showed plenty of vulnerability a week ago Thursday. But for two quarters the Packers got back to being the team we know they're capable of being. There's no denying that.
Aaron from Tucson, AZ
Mark this down for posterity and let's check back in five years to reassess: The Packers have their third consecutive HOF QB. I really see nothing other than injury that can prevent it. JL10 has the talent, the drive and competitive nature, the leadership attributes that inspire others, the toughness, and the man absolutely does not flinch. I trust we're never out of a game with him under center. I know it's early, but I'd like to submit this very early and bold prediction on the night he beat AR12.
I hope you're right but I'm not about to go that far just yet. No need to crown anybody less than 2½ seasons in. This game is hard. Even though Love made it look easy at times Sunday night.
Kyle from Los Angeles, CA
Love draws some flak for his gunslingin' ways, but on a night when two of his best plays were two of his worst decisions, we're lucky he's got some Favre in him! Was that the best game of his career?
It'll take a lot to top the playoff game in Dallas for me. But wait, worst decisions? If you're referring to the two prayers to Kraft and Watson, both were against blitzes, he knew the Steelers had fewer players in coverage, and he gave his guys chances to make plays. They were opportunities and he went for them. On the Kraft ball, it's man coverage and the defender has his back turned the whole time. That looks risky but really isn't. On Watson, if he isn't throwing across his body and can get more on it, I think he leads Watson away from the defense for a walk-in touchdown. Both plays needed some good fortune, yes, as he was hit on the Kraft throw and the underthrow to Watson made it a tougher catch amidst some traffic. But he's trusting his guys to make a play and at minimum prevent a negative. They won't all work out, but you have to make defenses pay for blitzing, and he did.
Dan from Westerville, OH
He may not ever admit it, but how much do you think this win meant to Jordan Love?
I don't know. I don't want to speak for him. But as Rodgers himself knows, you can only escape a shadow one step at a time. This isn't the first step, but it certainly counts as one.
Tom from Dell Rapids, SD
Do you sense MLF has really grown in the level of trust he has in Love? It just looked like he trusted Love to continue to throw and keep the pedal down tonight, more so than before that big fourth-down reconsideration at Arizona!
I don't think he's ever lacked trust in Love specifically, but it's as much about seeing everyone else around Love grow as watching Love grow himself. Kraft is in Year 3, Watson and Romeo Doubs in Year 4, guys like Malik Heath and Emanuel Wilson are so much more experienced. Yeah, they're mixing in rookies like Matthew Golden and Savion Williams, but this is a veteran offense now.
Caleb from Knoxville, TN
Who is your favorite TE, and why is it Tucker Kraft?
131 yards after catch, the most YAC recorded in one game by any NFL tight end in seven years, when (I believe) Kraft was in high school.
Mike from McFarland, WI
It may be worth asking about Kraft for a third time.
Oh, nicely done.
Mike from West Bloomfield, MI
Not sure if this is a question but … Does Christian Watson being on the field make that big of a difference for our passing game? Seemed like every time he was on the field he or someone else was wide open.
I've always believed defenses play the Packers differently when Watson's out there. Maybe not all the time, but a lot of the time.
Erik from Anchorage, AK
Love was stellar. Don't think it's a coincidence his best game this year came on the same day Watson returned. What is the limit for this offense with a (nearly) full arsenal?
Twenty-eight points in one half is probably pretty close to it. But that was only one half.
Scott from Reno, NV
Great game! I was talking to my Dad at halftime and said, "Trust me, we are about to blow these guys out." I wasn't kidding. Did you have the same feeling?
Can't say I did, but I knew there was plenty of time for the Packers to get going. Making the Steelers kick four long field goals provided the opportunity to swing the game.
John from Portland, OR
Two weeks in a row our offense has looked dormant for 29.5 minutes and dynamic for the last 30.5. Why the slow starts, and what can the team do to get the offense on track faster?
Nothing's easy in this league, especially on the road no matter how many visiting fans infiltrate the stadium. Look what happened to the Vikings, Bears, Niners and Cowboys on the road this week. As long as the game isn't out of reach, I'll take a strong finish over a fast start any day.
Bill from Boscobel, WI
I haven't seen as much conversation recently as in the past about this team's "identity." It seems like, at least since the Dallas game, this is the team that punches back. It's not always pretty, but there is just no quit in this team. They're never not in it, and they're never not fighting. Also, 20 straight completions? Are you freaking kidding me?
I've never not seen fight in a LaFleur team. But this particular squad is showing an ability to not just get back up after getting knocked down, but go on the attack as though it never got knocked down in the first place. That feels somewhat rare.
Andrew from Richmond, VA
The second-half Packers are a real problem for the rest of the league. It's a game of adjustments, and it seems that they are making the right ones as the game progresses. Kudos to the coaches for adapting and to the players for executing. 5-1-1 coming back home feels pretty good!
The Packers just finished a stretch of four road games out of five and went 3-1-1. That'll play. Now they've got three of four at home, before three of four on the road again. It's a weird schedule regardless of opponent, but one chunk (as well as game) at a time.
Nathan from Williamstown, MA
Mike, a lot of people (on the live blog and on the Internet after the game) were questioning if Brandon McManus should have even played. While the attempt before halftime was not pretty, the 57-yarder did what every other kick from that spot by someone not named Boswell does, and all the other kicks were perfectly fine. Can you disabuse us of this notion that the Packers somehow didn't check if McManus' leg was full strength, or test out his range in warmups?
There's no way they send him out for a 57-yarder if he hadn't proven pregame it's in his range. I wondered if the big swing there aggravated something and affected his kick right before half. Only McManus knows. Glad he bounced back in the second half, as a veteran should. Let's see what the next week brings.
Bill from Raleigh, NC
Hi Mike, in the second quarter, the run game of the Steelers got better and better. That enabled AR8 to click on his passes quickly. Were you able to notice an adjustment at halftime that changed the outcome?
All I noticed was the Steelers quit running the ball. On 11 of their first 12 snaps in the second half, Rodgers dropped back to pass.
Bob from Emmaus, PA
Did you see that Aaron Rodgers was a bit teary-eyed before his first play? I don't think it was emotion, he appeared to take a sniff of a small capsule or packet. Does he use something to amp himself up? He appeared to take the packet from his chin strap and then a sniff while calling his first play.
He likes those smelling salts, apparently. If he used those a lot in Green Bay, I wasn't aware of it. Teams can't provide them anymore but players are free to use them on their own.
Randy from Canton, OH
Not that I thought Jordan Love had any self-doubt before, but I see this as a "passing of the torch" moment. Our QB must be brimming with confidence right now. Bring on the next level!
The torch was passed when Love was one of the better QBs in the league over the second half of 2023. Rodgers can keep the Steelers in the hunt in the AFC, but Pittsburgh's defense looks too dependent on takeaways right now.

What's lost in the details of the phantom non-offside call is the Steelers had a missed false start in the second quarter. To me, it all came out in the wash.
That crew, with some help, got a couple of tough calls right but other moments left us all scratching our heads.
Rick from Sarasota, FL
While Love was great, Kraft was great, it was great to see Watson back, how about some love for Emanuel Wilson? What a spark he provided in the second half.
It's great to see another productive option in the ground game. I don't want to take anything away from Wilson here, and I hate to sound like a coach, but I've got to look at the film and see if defenses are aligning their front differently when Wilson is in the game vs. Josh Jacobs. Because the seams Wilson is getting and finding just don't seem to be there for Jacobs.
Howie from St. Ignace, MI
I loved how the Packers players maintained their composure during the skirmishes. The 15-yard personal foul penalties hurt the Steelers.
So many times those end up as meaningless offsetting fouls. Not last night.
Jeff from Green Bay, WI
We are 4-0 wearing our Winter Whites, 2-0 at home and 2-0 on the road, both Sunday night victories. Keep it going!
The last time the Packers lost on SNF was Rodgers' last game as Green Bay's QB.
Jonathon from Sierra Vista, AZ
Mike, in your article, "History at stake for both Packers & Aaron Rodgers on Sunday Night Football," I am sure you meant Mathew Stafford has never beaten the Lions in three tries, not the Steelers? Thanks for all you do.
Nope. Stafford beat the Lions his first season with the Rams and has lost twice to them since, including one playoff game. He lost to the Steelers in 2013 and '17 as Lions QB and in '23 as Rams QB.
Gary from Cross Plains, WI
It was mentioned GB won't play Pittsburgh again until 2029. With the 17th game, is there chance we could meet them sooner? Would be interesting if AR plays another year or two and gets another chance.
It's possible as the 17th game in 2027, if both teams finish in the same place in their divisions the season prior. The Packers will travel for a road game against a single AFC North team that year.
Edward from Sioux Falls, SD
Did Josh Jacobs ever connect with the young Packers fan in Phoenix who wanted to congratulate him after his TD?
I believe so, yes.
Scott from Sauk City, WI
Your comment about the NBA gambling arrests not being the last or the worst is both true and clear as day. The major sports leagues cozying up to sportsbooks all but guarantees that. Why is it obvious to all of us, but not the leagues? And what is the solution? There's no way the league(s) walk away from that ad revenue.
Oh, no. Not a chance. They're going to hold their breath as long as they can, and then bring the absolute hammer down on any significant violation. In this day and age, it's only a conflict of interest if you believe in such a thing.
Jeff from Janesville, WI
How many more games is Wisconsin going to have to lose before their ignorant AD realizes he made a huge mistake?
That's not the question. The question is why would anyone let the same AD choose the next head coach?
Kent from Homosassa, FL
Is "Packers Unscripted" a thing of the past?
Not at all. We just had to cancel our Thursday show last week because I was unexpectedly out of the office. We will be back this week.
Dave from Wheaton, IL
Frankly, it's almost disappointing you didn't call Freiermuth by his number, 88.
Ha, clearly my bad. Happy Monday.
