Mini-Camp Report - June 4, 2003

Packers GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman threw his team a curve ball today by canceling practice and sending them bowling instead.

The surprise team function is one of the ways Sherman looks to build team chemistry. In the past, the Packers have experimented with golf and paintball outings, but the team went bowling this year so that more of the players and coaches could be involved in the competitive aspect of the event.

Traditionally saved for the Friday of June mini-camp, this time around Sherman chose to schedule the event earlier in the week to surprise the entire team, including veterans who had become accustomed to the event being held at the end of the week.

The Packers will resume practice on Thursday at 11 a.m. as scheduled, and will add a Friday practice at 10:30 a.m. Next week's schedule will remain unaltered.

Weather and field conditions permitting, practice will be held outside at Clarke Hinkle Field (open to the public), but otherwise will be held inside the Don Hutson Center (closed to the public).

Thus far, June mini-camp practices have drawn crowds of 230 or more.

GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman apologizes to those Packers fans that planned to attend today's practice.
