Packers Acquire WR/KR Reggie Swinton From Dallas In Trade

The Green Bay Packers have acquired third-year wide receiver/kick returner Reggie Swinton from the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2004 conditional draft pick, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman said Tuesday.

Through three games this season the Cowboys had utilized Swinton as a return man, with three kickoff returns for 65 yards (21.7 avg.) and one punt return for 0 yards to go with three fair catches.

In two prior seasons in Dallas, Swinton played 29 games with an 11.1-yard punt return average in 50 tries, compared to a 24.1-yard kickoff return average over 84 attempts.

As a receiver Swinton has 14 receptions for 180 yards and one touchdown in his NFL career.

Swinton has also returned one punt and one kickoff for touchdowns.

A Murray State alumnus, Swinton bounced around the Canadian Football League in 1999 before finding a home with the Cowboys in 2001.

The Packers have until 3 p.m. CT to cut a player to get back under the 53-man roster limit.
