Packers, Bellin Health kick off training camp with 5K run, 1K kids run and movie night this weekend

Village of Ashwaubenon residents reminded of road closures

The Green Bay Packers and Bellin Health are preparing for more than 6,000 runners and walkers who will participate in the fourth annual '5K Run at Lambeau Field' this Saturday, July 27, beginning at 6:30 p.m..

The event is a computer-timed run highlighted by a neighborhood route that ultimately takes participants into Lambeau Field and around the famed gridiron. The route features a special finish line – the Packers' 'G' painted on turf located in the parking lot.

Bellin Health is contributing its considerable race expertise to the event through logistical and medical support. The organization's 10K race, the Bellin Run, is among the nation's most popular races.

Registration remains open and will be available Friday and Saturday on site.
For fans already registered for the 5K run, packets can be picked up on Friday and Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. in the Lambeau Field Atrium. Participants who haven't yet registered can do so at those times.

The Packers Experience will also be open Saturday in the Tundra Tailgate Zone for participants and family members during the race from 4 to 8 p.m.

Packets for Friday's 1K Kids Run can be picked up in the parking lot's southeast corner beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday. The race, which begins at 6 p.m., will start in the parking lot area south of the Oneida Nation Gate and will take runners inside the stadium for a lap around the field before finishing back in the parking lot. More than 700 children have registered for the race as of Thursday. The race will be followed by a showing of the movie Wreck it Ralph on the TundraVision inside the stadium.

Residents who live on the race's route are reminded that their neighborhood streets will be closed from 6:30 p.m. to approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday. Roads that will be closed due to the race include parts of Morris Avenue, Orrie Lane, Blue Ridge Drive, True Lane and Valley View Road. For a downloadable PDF of the race route, go to packers.com/5K and click the route tab.
Race participants will be able to tune into 101.1 WIXX radio for race announcements and important updates concerning weather conditions.

A portion of the event proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, NEW Community Shelter and Volunteer Center.
