Packers claim WR Sheppard

Sheppard, a 6-foot-2, 211-pound first-year player out of Towson, spent the entire 2013 season on the Ravens' practice squad

The Green Bay Packers have claimed WR Gerrard Sheppardoff waivers from the Baltimore Ravens. The transaction was announced Wednesday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Sheppard, a 6-foot-2, 211-pound first-year player out of Towson, spent the entire 2013 season on the Ravens' practice squad. He was originally signed by Baltimore as a rookie free agent on May 3, 2013. Sheppard began his college career at the University of Connecticut, where he played in eight games over two seasons before transferring. In his final two seasons, he started nine of 23 games he played in for Towson, registering 52 receptions for 584 yards (11.2 avg.) and five touchdowns. Sheppard will wear No. 9 for the Packers.
