The Green Bay Packers have selected José Vásquez, President, St. Anthony School in Milwaukee, as the recipient of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award. The Packers will recognize Vásquez at Lambeau Field prior to Sunday's Packers-Broncos game.

The NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) have partnered for the ninth annual NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Awards during the 2019 celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The awards recognize the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market.

Vásquez, who is President of St. Anthony School in Milwaukee, has over 40 years of serving in management positions at the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Waukesha County Technical College, Milwaukee County Health and Human Services Department and numerous nonprofit organizations in Milwaukee County. In addition, he also has served on numerous boards, including the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents, Wisconsin Technical College System, Milwaukee Area Technical College, St. Francis Seminary Board of Trustees, Council for the Spanish Speaking, United Community Center and La Casa de Esperanza and many more organizations.

Throughout his career and his service in civic engagement, Vásquez has strived to achieve two personal objectives: be of service to those in need and serve as a positive role model to the Hispanic community.

Each NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award recipient will select an organization of their choice that serves the local Hispanic community to receive a $2,000 donation. Vásquez has chosen St. Anthony School to receive the donation.

The theme of the NFL's Hispanic Heritage Month campaign is "Feel the Orgullo." In Spanish, the word "orgullo" means pride. Latino players, fans and coaches have a strong sense of pride not only in their culture but in their team and the NFL. During Hispanic Heritage Month, the NFL and its 32 teams amplify the rich history, heritage and tradition of Latinos, and honor the positive impact they have had on the game and country. Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, fans can visit www.NFL.com/HispanicHeritage for a look at the personal stories of Hispanic players, past and present, who have left a lasting legacy on the NFL. NFL teams will enhance the celebration with local efforts throughout the month including local community outreach in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
