The Green Bay Packers and Brown County United Way are inviting Wisconsin middle school students to develop service projects that directly impact their school, neighborhood or community as part of the Character Playbook Community Impact Project. The program is in its fourth year.

Student groups, under the guidance of a Wisconsin school or nonprofit organization, are invited to create and execute a service project that is specific to their school, neighborhood or surrounding community. Once proposals have been submitted, a narrowed pool of applicants will have the opportunity to present the group's project idea to select Green Bay Packers, Character Playbook and Brown County United Way representatives.

If approved, project proposals will receive a grant award up to $500 through funds from the NFL Volunteerism Grant and Brown County United Way to help fund implementation of the project. Projects ideas could include painting and refurbishing a common area, creating welcome kits for refugee or immigrant families, planning a neighborhood beautification project, setting up a community garden and donating produce to a local food bank, or developing online programs where students can visit with younger students or host bingo with senior centers.

Schools and nonprofit organizations will designate a project supervisor to guide the students in their project and to serve as the communication liaison with the Packers and Brown County United Way.

Students groups who want to participate in the program should submit proposals online by Oct. 31 at packers.formstack.com/forms/characterplaybookcommunityimpactgrantapplication2023

Those who are selected to present to the Packers and United Way representatives should be prepared to do their presentations on Nov. 28-29, and the grant recipients will be notified by Dec. 5. The projects should be complete by the end of the school year.

For additional information, schools and nonprofits can contact Amanda Wery in the Packers community outreach department at 920/569-7500.
