The Green Bay Packers have placed first-year cornerback Chris Johnson on injured reserve with a knee injury, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced Saturday.

Johnson, a seventh-round draft selection out of the University of Louisville in this year's NFL draft, played in Green Bay's first three preseason games (vs. Kansas City at Canton, Ohio, Aug. 4, at Atlanta, Aug. 9, and at Cleveland, Aug. 15) before suffering the injury during the practice week for the Aug. 23 game vs. Carolina that had sidelined him since.

The Packers will not fill the roster vacancy prior to Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, Sherman indicated.
