The Green Bay Packers have signed DE Joe Kruger to the practice squad. The transaction was announced Tuesday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Kruger, a 6-foot-6, 287-pound second-year player out of the University of Utah, was originally selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round (No. 212 overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent the entire 2013 regular season on injured reserve after sustaining a shoulder injury during the preseason. Kruger was released by the Eagles on Aug. 23, 2014, claimed by the San Diego Chargers on Aug. 25, 2014, and released on Aug. 30, 2014. He started 37 of 38 games during his three seasons at Utah, earning honorable mention All-Pacific-12 honors as a junior. Kruger will wear No. 74 for the Packers.
