The Green Bay Packers signed DL Jordon Riley to the active roster from the New York Giants' practice squad and signed WR Will Sheppard to the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Wednesday.
Riley (6-5, 338), a third-year player, was originally selected by the New York Giants in the seventh round (No. 243 overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. He played in 21 games with five starts for the Giants in 2023-24, recording 12 tackles (seven solo), three tackles for a loss and a QB hit. Riley spent this entire season on the Giants' practice squad. He saw action in 44 games in college at the University of North Carolina (2017-18), Garden City (Kan.) Community College (2019), the University of Nebraska (2020-21) and the University of Oregon (2022). Riley will wear No. 97 for the Packers.
Sheppard (6-3, 196), a rookie, joined the Packers in late July and has spent almost all of the regular season on Green Bay's practice squad and active roster. He played in 55 games at Vanderbilt (2020-23) and Colorado (2024). Sheppard finished with 200 receptions for 2,688 yards (13.4 avg.) and 27 touchdowns. He also returned 18 punts for 131 yards (7.3 avg.). In 2022, Sheppard registered career highs in receptions (60), receiving yards (776) and receiving TDs (nine), earning second-team All-Southeastern Conference honors from The Associated Press and third-team recognition from Phil Steele's College Football. He will wear No. 82 for the Packers.
