Packers sign DT Calvin Heurtelou

First-year defensive tackle went to training camp with Broncos last summer

The Green Bay Packers signed DT Calvin Heurtelou. The transaction was announced Monday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Heurtelou (HURT-uh-loo), 6-foot-2, 305 pounds, is a first-year player out of the University of Miami (Fla.). He originally signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2016, but was released on Aug. 29, 2016. In two seasons at Miami, Heurtelou played in 26 games with 24 starts, recording 52 tackles (22 solo), a half-sack, four tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery. Prior to joining the Hurricanes, he played at Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College in 2013. Heurtelou will wear No. 72 for the Packers.
