The Green Bay Packers signed LB Ahmad Thomas to the practice squad. The transaction was announced Wednesday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

Thomas, a 6-foot, 220-pound rookie out of the University of Oklahoma, had a brief stint with the Oakland Raiders in May. He played safety for the Sooners, appearing in 51 games with 39 starts over four seasons. Thomas registered 223 tackles (149 solo), five tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, four interceptions, seven pass breakups and a fumble recovery. As a senior, he was a team captain and was an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection by the league's coaches. In 2015, he earned All-Big 12 first-team honors from Phil Steele and was chosen second-team All-Big 12 by the league's coaches. Thomas will wear No. 56 for the Packers.
