Packers Sign S Burnett to Contract Extension

The Green Bay Packers have signed S Morgan Burnett to a contract extension. The signing was announced Friday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

Burnett, who was drafted by the Packers out of Georgia Tech in the third round (No. 71 overall) in 2010, has started all 36 games in which he has appeared over the course of his three seasons with the club. During that time, he has amassed 259 tackles (192 solo), 28 passes defensed, six interceptions, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and three sacks.

In 2012, Burnett started all 16 games for the second consecutive season and finished second on the team with a career-high 137 tackles (97 solo). He added 13 passes defensed, two interceptions, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

The Packers have also announced the release of WR Terrell Sinkfield.
