The Green Bay Packers Wednesday signed wide receiver Jamal Jones to their practice squad, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced.

Jones, a 6-0, 214-pound rookie out of North Carolina A&T, becomes the seventh member of the Green Bay practice squad, which can hold up to eight players.

After signing as a non-drafted free agent with the Rams April 30, Jones spent four months and 2004 training camp in St. Louis, before the Rams waived him Sept. 6. In preseason action he did not catch a pass, but did return one kickoff for 18 yards. Jones, who rejoins former Rams teammate Kelvin Kight on the Packers' practice squad, had been out of football until signing with Green Bay.

Jones, 23, lettered three years at North Carolina A&T - leading the team in receiving every year -- after transferring from the University of North Carolina. He owns a marketing degree from A&T.

The Packers have assigned Jones jersey No. 10.
