GREEN BAY – The Packers waited a day to make their first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft but then wasted no time addressing the cornerback position.
Green Bay chose Washington CB Kevin King with the first pick of the second round, No. 33 overall, a pick the Packers obtained by trading back four spots on Thursday night from their original position.
At 6-3, 200, King is a rare combination of size and speed at cornerback. He clocked a 4.43 in the 40-yard dash at the combine, and he's the sixth corner to be selected in the draft, following five taken in the first round on Thursday night.
King is the third defensive back in the last four years that the Packers have drafted with their first pick, following safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in 2014 and cornerback Damarious Randall in 2015.

King immediately gets thrown into the mix with Randall, Quinten Rollins, LaDarius Gunter and returning veteran Davon House for the top spot on the depth chart at a position the Packers need considerably improved play this coming season. Green Bay lost Micah Hyde in free agency this offseason.
A versatile defender, King started his college career at safety, moved to slot cornerback, and then also played boundary corner. He intercepted five passes over the last two years.
