GREEN BAY – After trading back, the Packers traded up and added a top cornerback to their defense.

Green Bay traded up from the No. 27 spot to No. 18 to select Louisville's Jaire Alexander in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night.
In the trade with Seattle, the Packers gave up a third-round pick (No. 76) and a sixth-round pick (No. 186). Green Bay also got a seventh-rounder (No. 248) in return.
Alexander (5-11, 192) had his best season in 2016, intercepting five passes in 13 games as a sophomore. Leg and hand injuries cost Alexander about half of his junior 2017 season, when he had just one interception, but he decided to turn pro anyway.
The fourth defensive back taken in the first round, Alexander declined to play in Louisville's bowl game at the end of 2017 after dealing with his injuries. He was clocked in 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the scouting combine.
